Open source? The source is already open, isn’t it? You can investigate problems, share your findings with the community, and collaborate just fine.
$12? That’s hardly a major donation.

there is no need to be sarcastic :joy:

As far as I know, ML was originally distributed as free software (wasn’t it…? I think so). If it was designed as free software, forking it or adapting it for Extensions would not be an issue. On the other hand, for software like PME, which is paid, there needs to be a discussion about whether it’s appropriate to make it freely accessible to everyone. Personally, I’m hesitant to support forking or making PME compatible with Extensions.

if that’s the problem hence the previous quoted comment, is reasonable to consider that since you don’t have officially permission to redistribute for free or change the addon’s code… but are you gonna really wait the next five years (if you had to wait that long for example) to solve a few problems of common interest for you and the addon users? this addon is not “officially” dead by notice of the OD but is declared dead to us already by the Original Developer’s absence…

If you have custom elements registered in locations like the one shown in the attached image, could you try removing them and then migrating your preferences? In my testing, custom elements created in a fresh Blender 4.3 environment work as expected, so creating them anew should allow you to use them without issues.

yeah, i think i should redo all my pie menus from scratch in 4.3 to get clean preference files, because these preferences have been migrating since earlier than blender 3.6
