Yes, reducing PME’s entry barriers is a current challenge - both for users and developers. I’m currently changing the documentation settings so it can be written in Markdown, making it accessible to anyone. I’d like to collect practical usage examples.
Regarding donations, well, I’ll think about it, but users are more indifferent than you think. The proof is that the current donation amount is $0. If people can get free updates, everyone will use them.
So I’m going to reframe this not as community-driven maintenance, but as purely a personal project. If it just happens by chance to be useful to everyone, I’d be happy about that.
