I replied to the github issue.
I tried to undo the changes that I did, it turns out it’s the hidden groups in panels that was causing the crash. After deleting (not disabling, as that still crashes blender), the search is now working well again.
I’m not sure if there are more issues causing a crash with the search but for my case, hidden groups is the culprit. I still have my custom panels and there are no crashes.
