I have not yet been able to migrate to 4.2, so I have not yet been able to check the detailed operation. I tried to reproduce what you reported as soon as I could, but could not. Do you have any specific steps to reproduce this?
My guess is that this is a migration specific issue. Apart from the add-on preferences, have you imported the keymaps used in previous versions into the Blender keymap?
