It worked! Thank you so much for the quick response! 
I have been trying to find a solution for days! One of the problems I had was that the toggle button would disappear once I switched to “store in the scene instance.” So I thought it was not possible with the Store in Addon method. I just realized I could use the property menu instead of a menu entry. Now everything works perfectly! Thanks again!
