It’s because LMB is confirming the extrude as soon as it happens. Try disabling “Release Confirms”.
image698×257 33.2 KBOr if you’re using one of those extra buttons on the mouse, try mapping it to a regular keyboard key, like "" for example. You can map it either in your mouse driver or use something like AutoHotkey.
